Your Business is a Love Story. Tell it well.

Your Business is a Love Story. Tell it well.

Today’s post is the very first offering from our very own Chief Story Maker, Miki DeVivo. Miki will be publishing here on the Makeness blog on the semi-regular from this point forward on all manner of topics relating the emotive stories of expressing your work in the world. Let’s give Miki our undivided attention…

It’s going to be hard.

You’re going to get scared.

You’re going to mess up.

You’re going to doubt your sanity.

But you’re going to be ok.

And you won’t ever give up.

Because your Love won’t let you.

That’s Love’s job.

You have this idea, this vision, this tender longing, and deepest wish. And on any given day you may wonder what the hell you’re doing. But you will never have to wonder why you’re doing it.

You’re doing it because you are driven by Love. Not just surface love for surface things. This is not a first crush or puppy love.

This Love is the real deal. Deep. Pure. Abiding. Lifelong.

Through sickness and in health, till death do you part.

It’s that kind of Love.

And that kind of Love won’t let you down.

Sure, you have to work at it. It’s not going to let you off the hook. It needs you to show up and nurture it every day. It won’t let you treat it like shit or it will leave.

But it will stand by you.

It will keep you going.

It is bigger than your doubt, stronger than your fear, and deeper than your mistakes.

It is vast enough for second chances, healing patterns that don’t serve you, and showing you the very best parts of yourself.

And it wants to make itself known in the world through you.

It wants to make a difference in the lives of those you serve.

It wants to shine out in all the little details of all the little decisions and all the little actions you take each day to make it real.

Call me a romantic, but I believe Love always finds a way.

And so it makes you show up, get clear, ask for what you need.

It whispers to you in your dreams and calls you out of bed every morning.

It guides your way when you find you have gotten lost.

If you love it, it will love you back.

If you sit down to write, it will sit down next to you. If you pick up the paint brush, it will squeeze out the paint tubes. If you ask it a question, it will respond with Truth.

Because your idea? It matters.

Your dream of your true work in the world? It is so, so very needed.

Your calling? It’s real.

So yes, it will be hard, and you will be afraid, and you will make mistake after mistake after mistake.

But as you keep moving forward, you’ll discover that false starts were blessings in disguise. That wrong turns will lead you to the right path. And that ideas you’d shelved years ago will suddenly fit perfectly with the project you find yourself working on now.

Because you’re not out of your mind.

You’re just in love.

manifest love - miki post

And tomorrow morning, when you wake up, you get to do the thing you most love in the world. You’ve put in the sweat, you’ve laid the foundation, you’ve shown up again and again and again.

And now you get to do your thing.

You get to do the thing that is so uniquely you, the thing you were put on this planet to make, the thing that comes so easily to you that it makes your heart sing, the thing that people are deeply grateful for the receiving of.

You get to chart your own course and do things your way. Because your path is perfectly fitted to you, and your way is the way that will change the world.

You get to feel confident, grounded, and sure. To feel so in the moment that you lose track of time. To feel completely alive.

You get to shine.

You get to make your Love manifest in the world.

To tell its story.

To make it real.
